During the High Holidays of Rosh Hashonah, my soul was lifted horizontally, and two hands were placed on each side of my head. A blessing was recited in a whisper of Hebrew, and I slowly began to rotate into a state of ecstasy.
I woke up and noticed some writing on my pillowcase while making my bed—231. I could not even begin to fathom a rational explanation for this. Someone sneaked into my room and wrote this on my pillow; I don’t think so; it had to be supernatural.
I learned of a Rabbi in the 16th century called the Maharal Of Prague. He would pray to Hashem write a question and leave it under his pillow at night. The following day, there would be a written answer from Hashem. An actual written word is left under his pillow. Could this be another way that Hashem communicates? Yes, it is hard to believe so I took a picture from the pillowcase that I have kept for many years as proof of the supernatural. So, what does 231 mean? I researched the texts to understand and found the 231 gates.
“Place them in a circle like a wall with 231 gates. Engrave them like a garden, carve them like a wall, deck them like a ceiling.”
22 Hebrew letters are engraved in the mind, then carved like a wall in a circular fashion. Connect the letters depicting them like a ceiling. This will allow different combinations. The 22 letters x 21 points to connect the lines equals 231. One can combine the letters in 231 different ways.
After the blessing, I received an anointing. It felt as if an oily liquid was dripping on the top of my head. I touched the top of my head because I thought my head was bleeding but realized it was spiritual, not physical.
As I progressed, energy began to flow through my body down the slowly created pathways. Perhaps I should mention the struggles and challenges I encountered that allowed me to carve out the letters. I saw each Hebrew letter as I engraved and carved and then pages of text in my mind. My soul was writing the array of the 231 gates, yet I did not comprehend for it was a mystery. Like the software on a computer, it makes things happen. The flow of the energy through the body aligned with the will of Gd creates in the world from these gates. The 231 gates are alluded to in the name of Israel. Permuting the letters of Israel to Yud Shin Resh Lamed Aleph (Yesh RLA) means there are 231.
